LOUISVILLE, KY — We couldn’t have done it without being in touch with you — our readers.

That’s what awards emcee Jim Park implied when he announced last week that Today’s Trucking Magazine deserved the Best of 2014 Prize as judged by the 150-member-strong Truck Writers of North America (TWNA).

“A sterling example of wisdom, relevance, and deeply rooted connection to readers who lay everything they have on the line for a chance at success.”

Every year, hundreds of trucking journalists across the continent compete for top honors recognizing the finest writing; best online work and the most compelling video journalism.

This year our journalists returned home with no less than 13 prizes for excellence in truck journalism, including The Big Prize, which is sort of like winning The Best Picture Oscar.

Here’s a recap of our booty: 

Bronze Awards went to:  

• Freelance writer/truck driver David Henry, “25 Reasons Why Trucking is Way Better Than It Used to Be”; 
• Contributing Editor Teona Baetu, “No Experience Necessary”; 
• Contributing Editor Jim Park, “Round ‘Em Up, Head “Em Out”.

Silver Awards went to:

• Vice President Editorial and Founding Editor Rolf Lockwood, “Who’s Driving Our Trucks?”; 
• Lockwood, “The Lockwood Report”; 
• Park, “CSI PSI”; 
• Editor Peter Carter, “5-Million-Mile Man”; 
• Carter, “Rear View Column” for his columns, “The 3 Best Trucker Jokes Ever” and “Professional Driving 101.” 

Gold Awards went to:

• Lockwood, Carter and Designer Frank Scatozza: “August 2012 Issue”; 
• Lockwood, “Driving the Blues Away”;
• Park and Videographer Dan Robinson, “The Ultimate Test Drive: Freightliner Cascadia w/ DT12.”

The Ultimate Test Drive Video also won a Best in Division Award.
