$200K Worth of Booze Swiped

NEW GLASGOW, NS. — Someone stole a tractor-trailer loaded with 26 pallets of beer, wine and spirits from an unsecured lot overnight on Nov. 25.

Whoever the thief was, they pulled an ol’-fashioned switcheroo.

According to the Southwest Transportation Security Council, a tractor attached to a trailer full of booze was started at 1:57 a.m. At the same time, another untethered tractor in the yard, this one GPS-equipped, was also fired up.

The perp then, for some reason, transferred the load to the GPS-equipped rig and left the original tractor abandoned in the yard.

RCMP recovered the second tractor in Truro, NS, however the trailer and its estimated $195,300-value cargo is still missing.

The stolen trailer is identified as a 2013 white Utility Model VS2DX, with NS plate PT63180, number 322145 and with the VIN: 1UYVS2535DG455133.

Those with information are asked to contact RCMP Const. Bryce Haight at 902-485-4333, OCA: HDIV-11-014, or contact the CargoNet Command Center at 1-888-595-2638.
