COLUMBUS, IN – Class 8 order backlog rose to 125,000 units in January, reported ACT Research, marking the highest backlog volume since July 2011.
“The class 8 build rate fell back to the prevailing trend in January at 1,253 units per day, following the rush to build and deliver units into the end of 2011,” said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst at ACT.
Last month, ACT reported that class 8 orders for December 2011 were the second highest in six years.
The backlog for classes 5-7 rose to 36,500 units for January.
