Air quality concerns trigger truck inspection site move

WINDSOR, Ont. — Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has moved off-site commercial vehicle inspections at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor to another location due to health concerns.

Functions normally performed at the off-site facility are now being performed at another nearby site and at the bridge’s Windsor Traveler’s Building.

The examination dock at the commercial off-site will remain in operation and will have a temporary trailer on-hand to process certain paper release requests.

A CBSA spokeswoman confirmed to todaystrucking.com that Health Canada had tested the indoor site for air quality and certain materials. Preliminary testing indicated that more comprehensive tests are necessary and the off-site facility was relocated as a precaution.

"These measures will ensure continuing of all CBSA functions, including exams, and minimize any impact on the processing of commercial vehicles," she said.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article implied the testing targeted diesel particulate matter levels. It did not.
