AMTA Running Wheel-Off Survey

ROCKY VIEW, AB — Trucks are getting safer and safer every year. Over the past 15 years, wheel separation incidents involving commercial vehicles have dropped significantly, but not completely.

The Alberta Motor Transport Association wants to know why and how these incidents are happening and is running a survey to find out.

In the ‘90s, wheel-off incidents were around 200 a year in Canada, but by 2010, they dropped to under 100.

But every one of those 100 tires flying off a tractor or trailer means potential injuries to motorists, the AMTA claims.

They’re asking transport companies and owner-operators to participate in the survey and help further reduce the number of wheel separations.

You can complete the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WheelSeparationSurvey.
