Are Your Trucks Eligible for Port Mann Toll Discounts?

VANCOUVER — The new eight-lane Port Mann toll bridge is scheduled to open for business December 1st. And if you run medium-duty duty trucks across it, you might want to enroll now for your early-bird discount. ( Click here for that discount.)

If however you run heavy-duty trucks, sucks to be you.

Heavy-duty trucks will be eligible for 50 percent over-night (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) discount but not the early signing bonus. Full daytime fare is $9 per crossing.

The British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is touting the Port Mann as the biggest transportation project in BC history and points to its many commercial advantages, most notably the elimination of some of the most colossal congestion in North America. Recent estimates say the new bridge will cut Vancouver commuting time in half.

Plus, if you don’t like the idea of paying tolls, the government’s offering an alt-route: The South Fraser Perimeter Road, under construction at the moment but scheduled for completion by late 2013.

For more information on what you will pay to cross this bridge (it’ll be the widest suspension bridge in the world when it’s done) check treo.ca.
