TMW Systems: Making up for lost time
One way to encourage shippers and receivers to speed up their docks is to charge them for making your truck sit. TMW Systems has automated the process, adding detention time tracking to its TMWSuite dispatch and fleet management software. It alerts dispatch and customers as soon as detention charges start to apply. Detention notification is automated for TMW customers who use TotalMail, a messaging system within TMWSuite. If the customer contract includes detention charges, the system can determine automatically when a detention charge is warranted and create an invoice detail for it. It can also handle different detention tolerances for pick-up and drop locations. Automatic detention billing does not require TotalMail. If TotalMail isn’t in use, the system compares the arrival and departure times that the dispatcher records manually for a stop.
