SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Chevron Products Co. has announced the creation of its Lubricants University website, designed to provide fleet and dealer mechanics with an understanding of the vital role lubrication plays in diesel engine operation.
The site -- which includes a new training course entitled "Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Lubrication" -- is based on a self-study module. The course explains, in detail, the oil's path through, and its role in, in each area of the engine, helping diesel mechanics and maintenance supervisors learn the fundamentals of parts and operation; lubricants and potential problems; and lubricants performance specifications.
After successfully completing the course, the student will be able to print a certificate of completion.
"As engine technologies grow in complexity, continued education in regards to lubricants, coolants and new engine components is a necessity for even the best diesel mechanics," said Nicole Fujishige, commercial automotive business unit manager, Chevron Products Company. "The new Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Lubrication course on LubricantsUniversity.com offers mechanics the opportunity to stay abreast of current technologies and issues, through the convenience of a web-based solution."
Open to the general public, the cost per course is $59.95 and may be purchased by credit card by phone, through the Chevron Fulfillment Center at 1-866-7LUBESU.
In addition, a subscription program is available for companies interested in offering training to multiple employees. Subscriptions can be customizable, allowing a company to choose the most appropriate courses for its needs. The subscription fee is dependent on the amount of employees and the number of courses a company chooses to take.
Upcoming courses, available in the first quarter of 2006, will address topics involving Additive Technology, Industrial Gear Oils, Coolants and Hydraulics.
