Electronic manifests ACEs in Vermont
WASHINGTON -- Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) installations are now completed at all land ports in Vermont, US Customs and Border Protection announced. ACE is the commercial trade processing system designed to enhance border security and expedite legitimate trade. "The transition to ACE in Vermont puts us over the halfway mark for ACE deployment along the northern border," said Executive Director Louis Samenfink, CBP Cargo Systems Program Office. "We are working diligently to complete ACE deployments and to ensure the mandatory use of electronic manifest is implemented as smoothly as possible." The e-manifest capability is available at all ports where ACE is deployed. Currently, 54 ports are using ACE in Arizona, California, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Texas, Vermont and Washington. The use of ACE to file electronic manifests will be required beginning Jan. 25, 2007 for truck carriers entering the U.S. through all ports of entry in the states of Washington and through the ports of Pembina, Neche, Walhalla, Maida, Hannah, Sarles and Hansboro in North Dakota. Eventually, all land border ports will be required to transmit advance electronic truck cargo information through ACE.
