AFTERMARKET BRAKE LININGS
Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake says its three new air-brake friction materials represent an effort to more closely align its original equipment and aftermarket product portfolios. The available Bendix Black 20K friction material is said to be an economical braking solution for fleets at the 20,000-lb axle-weight rating. Bendix 23K material, scheduled for release this year, will offer a lower acquisition cost for fleets using heavier, 23,000-lb axles. Both products are engineered for tractor, trailer, and straight truck applications and use an organic compound for on-highway to city pickup-and-delivery applications. Bendix will also launch a new air-brake friction material this year, BX-415, providing the same performance and value for both OEM and aftermarket customers. A “premium” lining, Bendix says it’s suited for tractor or trailer applications on a 20,000-lb axle. It’s claimed to be a low-cost-per-mile material offering long lining life and reduced drum wear.
