PARIS, France -- In an effort to help trucking companies deal with rising fuel prices, French Transport Minister Dominique Bussereau said he will ask toll-road operators to moderate price increases.
According to the Toronto Star, Bussereau said at a news conference in Paris last week, "We're going to ask them to moderate their price change." The Minister said that tolls "have been rising strongly, certainly too strongly in recent years." He also said that he would ask toll-road operators for "special advantages for trucks."
Truckers from Spain, Portugal and France have been staging protests at border crossings over high fuel costs.
