Most will have heard of SCR by now, but there's still more than a little mystery to Selective Catalytic Reduction -- the NOx reduction strategy of choice for five out of the six North American heavy-duty engine makers going into 2010. At this point, SCR is looking like a good news story overall. It's proven technology; it is widely used in Europe, and it's been in service over there for more than five years. But a few concerns remain on this side of the pond: issues of weight, cost, and availability of diesel exhaust fluid are still being worked out.</p>
<p>David McKenna, the Powertrain Products Marketing Manager at Mack Trucks joins us on Truck Talk this week to shed little light on Selective Catalytic Reduction. We were together recently for a road test of an SCR-equipped Mack Granite dump truck. We recorded this interview in Dave's car while driving from the customer's facility in Skippack Penn. back to my hotel in Allentown.<br />
