Truck Talk
Volume 2 Number 7
You'd have to be living in a very deep hole in the ground to be unaware of the very obvious discord between the proponents of Selective Catalytic Reduction and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation as solutions to the EPA 2010 emissions reduction targets. At this point, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mack, Paccar, and Volvo have all opted for the SCR solution, leaving the International Truck and Engine Corporation as the sole proponent of a 100-percent EGR solution.
The debate over which technology is superior turned ugly recently when International began assailing SCR. In a remarkable display of unanimity, the CEOs of the four major SCR supporters participated in an informative pannel discussion of the merits of that technology.
Truck Talk presents an edited version of that discussion, which took place at this year's Mid-America Trucking Show. The CEO Summit was hosted by factsaboutscr.com.
