MILTON, Ont. -- Hard roadside enforcement of Ontario's mandatory speed limiter rule begins in just a couple weeks, but that isn't stopping a small group of truckers from holding a last-ditch protest against the rule.
OOIDA member and protest organizer Scott Mooney of Cambridge, Ont. will he holding the demonstration this Saturday, June 12 at the Milton Fairgrounds in Milton, Ont.
Mooney, who has been trying to recruit trucker-protesters through his Facebook site, www.nospeedlimiter.ca, hopes that government will reconsider the legislation before fines kick-in on July 1.
While that's unlikely to happen, speed limiter opponents are hoping they'll entice more truckers to attend this protest than the one at Queen's Park last month, which saw only a smattering of participants.
