TORONTO -- How can you know if a trucking company has a good safety status?

The Transportation Health and Safety Association of Ontario (THSAO), in conjunction with Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB), invites anyone whose job involves picking a transportation provider to attend a free session on Aug. 6 where attendees will hear about the Ministry of Transportation’s carrier safety rating system.

The safety rating session is one of several sessions being offered during a free one-day seminar where road safety experts will deliver a series of consecutive stand-alone talks on road safety topics.

“Safety is a shared responsibility and awareness in choosing a safe provider plays a key role in enhancing road safety,” says Michael Burke, president and CEO of THSAO. “One critical way to improve road safety is to ensure those who play a role in determining which transport companies are moving their freight are aware of information that is available to them to help make a responsible procurement decision.”

The seminars will be held at the Centre for Health & Safety Innovation in Mississauga, Ont. Individual sessions include: sharing the road with trucks, preparing employees for safe vehicle trips, pre-trip your vehicle and yourself, and avoiding driver distractions.

Registrants may attend all the sessions offered that day or just drop in to hear the session of their choice. Pre-registration is required.
