HALIFAX -- Conserve Nova Scotia is extending Trucking Energy Efficiency Incentive Program rebates to Class 8 trucking carriers to September 30, 2010.
Also new, the cap on the number of rebates that you could apply for has been removed to help encourage further upgrades, reports the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association.
The APTA says that carriers that had installed eligible equipment on additional tractors or trailers after receiving a rebate approval letter, can now apply for rebates for that equipment.
Eligible, EPA Smart Way-certified equipment includes: anti-idling devices, aerodynamic improvements, low rolling resistance tires, and tire pressure monitoring and inflation systems.
The rebates are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Rebates range from 20 to 40 percent of the total cost, depending on the type of equipment.
The maximum rebate per tractor or trailer is $2,500 plus HST.
All equipment must be installed and in use before November 30th, 2010
