OTTAWA – CNN, Bravo and a few Canadian TV stations will air a profile of the trucking industry developed by the Canadian Trucking Alliance and the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council.
The show will air as an episode of The Profile Series, an award winning informational TV series hosted by Lou Gossett Jr.
The episode will also be broadcasted via the Internet and
posted to popular social networking sites such as You Tube and Google Video, says CTA in a press release.
Viewers can get a sneak peak of the trailer here.
CTA and CTHRC officials hope that partnering with The Profile Series and distributing the program through stations and internet venues will appeal to a younger demographic.
"We’re attempting to promote the industry to a younger demographic," says David Bradley, CTA’s president and CEO. "We need to attract more young people to the industry so it’s logical that we would use media that they are more likely to tune into."
The stars of the show will include drivers, mechanics, driver trainers, administrators and company owners from companies that have sponsored the project, like Bison Transportation, Rosenau Transport, Robert Transport, Cavalier Transportation, Challenger Motor Freight, Jeff Bryan Transport, Manitoulin Transport and Rosedale Transport.
Financial support was also provided by the various provincial trucking associations.
"The purpose of the production is to showcase the Canadian trucking industry and its many career opportunities," says Linda Gauthier, executive director of the CTHRC.
