Teamsters notch another carrier in union drive

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Wilson Truck Lines drivers have ratified their first collective agreement as Teamsters, the union announced.

The newly unionized employees, which include company drivers and owner-operators, haul mainly food to major supermarket retailers.

The Teamsters say that the company let go 40 drivers before the ratification vote, but were later reinstated by the union-friendly Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Wilson is one of several for-hire trucking fleets and logistics companies the Teamsters have targeted this year.

Last a month a Millard Refrigerated Services facility in Brampton, Ont. became the first company shop to be unionized in North America.

As Today's Trucking reported in recent months, Challenger Motor Freight has been trying to fend off an aggressive union drive since last November.
