WINDSOR, Ont. -- Ambassador Bridge lawyers aren't giving up trying to save newly constructed tool booths and avoid reconstructing a ramp between the new Detroit plaza and the freeway.
The private bridge company has been ordered Wayne County Circuit Judge to dismantle certain facilities including toll booths, fuel pumps and storage tanks and redo construction work as part of its obligations on the Gateway Project in Detroit.
Earlier this month, bridge president Dan Stamper was briefly jailed for not abiding by the ruling.
However, the bridge's attorneys are once again seeking relief from a portion of the court order.
According to the Windsor Star, bridge owner Matty Moroun's recent purchase of the sole remaining private property located within the plaza has changed the dynamics of the court order.
The motion will be heard Friday in Detroit by judge Prentis Edwards, who gave the original order and jailed Stamper for contempt.
