Rest 'n staging biz expanding across NA

MONTEBELLO, Calif. -- While governments continue to ignore the lack of adequate rest areas for truckers, at least one private company is building solutions – literally.

Terminal Exchange Services, a provider of " hi-tech, state-of-the-art secure parking facilities" and 24/7 trailer parking and drop yard staging Services, continues to grow in the U.S. and is eyeing expansion throughout Canada as well.

TXS says it has opened two more high security, service oriented ‘safe-havens” for trucking fleets in Long Beach and Wilmington California.

The company has about 127 locations in the U.S. and six in Ontario (two in Toronto, Bolton, Concord, Rexdale, and Crescent City). See map here for all locations.

TXS President J.P. Harwood tells Today's Trucking that the company has plans to open new locations throughout all of Canada.

TXS' newest facility is within one half mile of the port of Los Angeles and the port of Long Beach and one mile from the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF).

The company says this facility’s most important feature is it represents a safe haven for drivers and their equipment to help in the prevention of cargo theft.

Other services available are container storage, chassis storage, trailer repair and maintenance, tire service, trailer washout, reefer maintenance along with all aspects of container and chassis repair.

TXS will soon launch a new "Wireless Reservation Service" which allows truckers in the US or Canada to ea reserve "guaranteed" secure parking from anywhere in the country by cell phone, text message or laptop via the Internet for short time layovers for staging or rest.
