DETROIT – Former Clinton spin master and FOX News commentator Dick Morris revealed that the owners of the private Ambassador Bridge have hired him as a consultant.
And one of his first orders of business was to take to the airwaves and attack the government's plan to build the so-called DRIC bridge a few miles away from the Ambassador along the Detroit River.
Morris, who made a name for himself as President Bill Clinton's shrewd campaign manager, was heard on local Detroit radio this week blasting Gov. Rick Snyder over the newly elected governor's support for a second, publicly-controlled crossing. (Morris called it a "boondoggle").
"I'm delighted to have a Republican governor; I just wish he'd act like one," said Morris.
The outspoken pundit also criticized Michigan for considering a $500 million offer from Canada to build bridge, and for refusing the Ambassador's proposal to build a twin span with their own money.
"(Snyder) would pay Canada back with toll revenues, but with traffic down by half over the past decade, the state will never get enough toll revenues … and Michigan taxpayers will be stuck."
