SAN DIEGO -- Two Canadian fleets were deemed to be the safest truckload carriers in North America by the Truckload Carriers Association at the 35th National Fleet Safety Awards in San Diego.
Brian Kurtz Trucking of Breslau, Ontario, won the grand prize in the small carrier division (less than 25 million annual miles), while Winnipeg's Bison Transport – not a stranger to big safety awards on both sides of the border -- won the large carrier division (25 million-plus miles).
Brian Kurtz and Bison's Rob Penner accepted the awards at TCA's Annual Awards Banquet.
The two grand prize winners were selected from among 18 division winners announced in January.
Both companies demonstrated they maintain stringent standards in their overall safety programs, on and off the highway, and were judged to be the best in their commitment to improving safety on our nation's highways.
Meanwhile, Rob Penner was also elected to the board of TCA officers.
