Poll points to opposition to DRIC project

DETROIT -- A group that opposes a new bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor, is heralding the results of a recent poll of Michigan residents that shows they oppose public funding for such a project.

The statewide poll of 500 residents, conducted by political consultant Dick Morris, shows 51.8% would rather see a second Ambassador Bridge span that is privately financed.

Of those polled, 27.6% preferred a government solution, paid for by the Canadian and Michigan governments, and 20.6% had no opinion.

For another set of poll questions, Mr. Morris also surveyed one thousand Canadian residents. They were asked if Canada would lend Michigan $550 million to build a bridge, would they support or oppose building the bridge.

Almost two-thirds of Canadians polled (63.2%) opposed the bridge, while 27.8% supported it, and 9% did not know.

The poll was commissioned by the Detroit International Bridge Company. To see the entire poll and get more information on the bridge issue go to www.2billionbridge.com.

According to Wikipedia, Morris' poll site to which he directs people is "intended to register non-scientific political public opinion on various issues." [note the word 'non-scientific' (liars figure and figures lie)] https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Dick_Morris Considering that many shifty and deceptive pollsters pose their questions to get the skewed response they want,I wouldn't believe a word Dick Morris said if he swore it on a stack of Bibles heaped on his mother's grave.
