MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- FedEx Freight joined most of its closest LTL rivals by announcing a rate hike on its non-contract truck lanes in both Canada and the U.S.
Truck pricing will go up by 6.75 percent on Sept. 6, North America's second-largest transport company announced earlier this week.
This follows a 6.9 percent hike last fall.
UPS Freight set off a round of LTL increases in August. ABF Freight, Con-way Freight and YRC Worldwide all followed suit with hikes of around 7 percent.
The companies say the hikes are necessary to offset soaring costs – namely fuel, tires and new EPA-compliant trucks.
