COLUMBUS, IN – After climbing to their third highest net order volume of 2011, Class 8 orders dropped to their second lowest volume of the year, reported ACT Research.
New orders in November dropped from October's 29,824 units down to 24,354 while net orders landed at 20,603, down from 28,026 units.
But, ACT says, the demand situation is still encouraging.
“We believe special factors, such as the near selling out of remaining 2011 build slots in October and cancellations in export orders in November, were responsible for the boost in order activity in October and the fall-off in order activity in November,” said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst at ACT.
By looking at October and November in aggregate, Vieth said monthly net orders average 24,400 units.
