Solus has introduced its Air Conqueror Series wheel-cavity cover. The donut-shaped, patent-pending cover allows for visual inspection of lug nuts, oil cap, axle hub, and air valves as well as hands-on inspection. It's said to provide ample air flow to the braking system.
The covers were designed to meet the needs of drivers and maintenance staff by reducing inspection time and allowing unrestricted access to the wheel well, the company says.
They're EPA-verified at 1.3% fuel savings as demonstrated by the Smartway modified SAE J1321 fuel consumption test procedure.
Air Conqueror Series products are made of "rugged" ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene designed to operate in any environment, the company says. The wheel-cavity cover comes with unique mounting configurations that are specific to a customer's application. These flexible mounting options means the covers are compatible with any commercial wheel. Colours can also be matched.
They're priced at US$200 per set of four for use on both tractor and trailer. They can be combined with one of the 14 different configurations of the Solus Split Skirt, which are also EPA-verified at 4.2% to 5.9%. Used on both tractor and trailer along with a side skirt, they could generate an estimated savings greater than 8%, the company claims.
