Available in both English and French, of course, FleetSmart has just published 'Driving for Fuel Economy -- An Incentive Program Handbook'. It comes in either downloadable pdf form or as a hard copy.
FleetSmart is part of Natural Resources Canada, covering all aspects of fleet energy management from vehicle spec'ing and maintenance to driver training, alternative fuels and state-of-the-art transportation technologies. As well as publishing handbooks like this one, it also offers face-to-face training.
The new incentives guide used the contributions of over 25 volunteers from each of the on-road transportation sectors. It outlines the basic steps for creating an incentive program in fleet operations. FleetSmart says it will provide practical advice, simple worksheets, and checklists to help users get started.
Real-life case histories from four fleets -- Paradise Island Foods in Nanaimo, BC; Turk Enterprises of St. Andrews, Man.; Bison Transport of Winnipeg; and Continental Cartage of Edmonton -- are included.
The handbook is free.
