LOUISVILLE, KY. — The founding editor of Today’s Trucking has been named one of the most (if not the most) influential trucking journalists in North America.
Rolf Lockwood, currently Vice-President Editorial of Newcom Business Media, which produces the magazine, website and Truck World show, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Truck Writers of North America (TWNA) at the organization’s annual dinner on Thursday, March 22.
The award celebrates a person who exhibits the highest standard of journalism or communications within the trucking industry over a career. The award was presented by TWNA chairman Jami Jones, who is also Senior Editor of Land Line Magazine.
In his congratulatory comments, Today’s Trucking Publisher Joe Glionna, whose father Jim was one of the founding partners with Lockwood of Newcom Business Media, told the group how he actually grew up watching Lockwood lead the editorial side of the business.
For his part, Lockwood said he was "astonished and deeply appreciative" of getting the award, and expressed "deep affection" for his colleagues in the truck-writing community.
One of his longtime colleagues and a veteran journalist in Tuscaloosa, AL, Jack Roberts, told todaystrucking.com he’s been a Lockwood admirer for decades. “He is always cheerful, he is always positive and immensely practical. From the outset he has been generous with advice, thoughts and insights that have benefited me greatly over the years, far more so than he is aware, or even paused to consider, I’m sure.”
