O.P.P Gets Set to Blitz 400-Series Highways

The Ontario Trucking Association is reminding carriers that the OPP will be out in increased numbers on the 400-series highways this Thursday, with a focus on truck enforcement.

Dubbed "Operation Corridor," the 24-hour hour highway safety initiative will target aggressive commercial vehicle drivers, speeding trucks, and other unsafe driving practices.

"Ontario highways are among the safest in North America. Even though commercial truck traffic has increased, there has been a decrease in fatal collisions involving large trucks over the past two decades. Safety initiatives like Operation Corridor help keep aggressive and unsafe commercial vehicles off our roads, making them safer for everyone," said OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis.

The Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of the Environment will also be conducting their own truck inspections, with an eye for environmental violations mechanical problems.

Aggressive or unsafe vehicles are subject to immediate intervention and could possibly be taken out of service.
