CHICAGO, IL — A transportation company is moving towards making the world a less hungry place for many.

Allied Van Lines Inc. has partnered up with a non-profit organization, Move For Hunger, in order to eliminate hunger in the States and now, in Canada.

Although Allied Van Lines Inc. was already a corporate partner of Move For Hunger, it has just recently announced an extension of the partnership to include all of its Canadian agents.

“Ever since the partnership started in the U.S., we have seen the incredible impact it has had in such a short time,” said Rob Grohn, president of Allied Van Lines Canada. “We are excited that our agents now get the opportunity to be a part of this effort and now are as able to help eradicate hunger in Canada.”

The partnership, which was first announced in South Caroline in 2011, and has since expanded to include all Allied Van Lines Inc. Canadian branches, is the largest partnership of its kind to date, according to Allied Van Lines Inc.

Allied Van Lines is planning to integrate efforts through local food drives and its corporate service centers to collect food year round.

“Fighting hunger is not just an American issue, but a global one,” said Adam Lowy, founder of Mover for Hunger. “Allied is one of the few moving companies that not only has the resources, but the network to help us make an impact beyond our borders and that excites us.”

Move For Hunger works with moving companies to pick up unwanted, unopened non-perishable food from people who are moving, and deliver it to local food banks across the country.
