Axle ratio for downspeeding

Dana has introduced a new 2.47:1 axle ratio for its Spicer AdvanTEK 40 tandem axle to support downspeeding in linehaul trucks. That means it now has seven ratios from 2.26:1 to 2.93:1 for the fuel-saving configurations.

The company says the new ratio is ideally suited for High Efficiency and Performance direct-drive versions of the SmartAdvantage Powertrain developed by Eaton and Cummins. It’s recommended for regional-haul applications that travel a mixture of highways, secondary roads, and urban streets.
