BC Truck Book Named as Finalist for Big Prize

VANCOUVER – “Chuffed and cocky.”

That’s the way one insider described how the folks around the British Columbia Trucking Association  (BCTA) are feeling this week.

And what, praytell, do they have  to boast about?

How about the fact that the richly illustrated and handsomely bound book Trucking In British Columbia by Daniel Francis has been nominated for a very prestigious book prize?

Written to coincide with the BCTA’s 100th Anniversary, the brightly presented account of the industry’s growth is a finalist in the B.C.Booksellers’ Association’s “Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award.”

Admittedly, the book is up against some pretty impressive-sounding titles, including “Bruno and the Beach: The Beachcombers at 40,” but we at Today’s Trucking would definitely cast our ballot for the truck tome.

We liked the book so much that we included an excerpt in our special 25th anniversary issue of Today’s Trucking in August.
