B.C. Truckers Get Students Closer to Their Goals

LANGLEY, BC- The B.C. Trucking Association (BCTA) has announced the four 2014 winners of its Motor Carrier and Associate Member Scholarships.

First place winners – $1,625

Jasmeher Aulakh, who is taking International Studies at Simon Fraser University, received the Motor Carrier Member Scholarship. The scholarship is worth $1,625 and is given to students based on their based on academic record, future career plans and goals and community involvement.

Michael Tom is attending the University of Calgary and dreams of becoming a clinician-scientist, investigating the intersection of genetics and immunology and translating these findings to new therapies for patient care. He also received the BCTA’s Associate Member Scholarship worth $1,625.

Lauren McNeilly

Second place winners – $1,125

Candice Van Den Dorpel won the second-place Motor Carrier Member Scholarship, worth $1,125. She is enrolled in the Nursing program at the University of the Fraser Valley.

And Lauren McNeilly won the second-place Associate Member Scholarship worth $1,125. McNeilly is studying Environmental Science at Simon Fraser University in hopes of a career in Environmental Conservation and Ecology.
