Best 9 Carriers to Work for in Atlantic Canada

TRURO, NS — Nine trucking companies from Atlantic Canada got the Employer of Choice award from Trucking Human Resource Sector Council.

The carriers are recognized for efforts in the areas of recruitment and retention, human resource practices, and building a stronger workforce.

Each company is evaluated on 5 key areas and must achieve a minimum score with the largest influencing factor being the employee feedback.
There are currently four categories, reminiscent of clothing size, that carriers can qualify for:

  • Small: 1 – 30 employees
  • Medium: 31 – 99 employees
  • Large: 100 – 499 employees
  • Extra large: 500 +

“Depending on your company size, you need to have a certain percentage of your employees respond to a survey in a positive fashion,” says Donnie Fillmore, president of Atlantic Pacific Transport Ltd, one of the winners. “In my case, we had to have 75 percent of our employees fill out the questionnaire favorably.”

The winners:

  • Eassons Transport
  • Clarke Road Transport
  • Atlantica Diversified Transportation Systems
  • Newterm Logistics
  • Atlantic Pacific
  • Keltic Transportation
  • Tom MacDonald Trucking
  • Warren Transport
  • Eastern Shore Cartage

Employer of Choice is a program that recognizes employers who are dedicated to
responding to the needs of their employees based entirely on what matters to those
in their workplace.

The program only recognizes employers who are endorsed by their employees as an employer of choice.
