Best Fleets to Drive For Goes All Canadian

OTTAWA, ON. — Trucking HR Canada will be taking the reins of the Canadian version of Best Fleets to Drive For, the immensely popular contest and survey currently run by the Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge.

Conducted annually, the contest identifies for-hire trucking companies that have the best workplaces for drivers.

The Canadian version, said Trucking HR, will build on the success of the original, but focus on Canadian fleets. And it won’t only be for-hire carriers that can enter — private fleets are welcome, too. Naturally, selection criteria will differ between for-hire and private fleets.

Both the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) and the Private Motor Truck Council (PMTC) are on board. CarriersEdge will supply the systems and technology.

The program is much more than a contest in that it highlights the positive benefits with having successful human resources practices. Fleets that put effort into compensation packages, driver wellness, and other HR initiatives are the winners — in more ways that one.

“Best Fleets to Drive For: Canada will capture and promote effective human resources practices throughout the trucking industry, celebrate fleets which take extra steps to support their employees and operators, and offer leading fleets the public recognition they deserve,” commented Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada.

Honours in the Best Fleets to Drive For: Canada program will be awarded in the summer and fall. To complement the program, a series of seminars will share and promote the industry’s best HR practices.

The first call for submissions will take place early in 2014.
