Bison receives Best Large Fleet to Drive For award

NASHVILLE, TN – Winnipeg-based Bison Transport has won the 2017 Overall Best Fleet to Drive For Award in the large carrier category as part of the 2017 Best Fleets to Drive for program.

Bison has won the award three times and received it for the second consecutive year at the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) annual convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is the program’s ninth year running and is produced by CarriersEdge in partnership the TCA.

Accepting the award on behalf of Bison was Garth Pitzel, director of safety and driver development at Bison.

After accepting the award on behalf of the employees and contractors and thanking the TCA, EpicVue, and Bose for their continued sponsorship, he went to explain what earned Bison this award for the third time.

“When you look at Bison’s programs, it’s really based on one thing, whether its our driver program, our maintenance program or our safety program, and that is the absolute caring for the wellbeing of our professional drivers. What makes this award special is that it starts with a nomination from a driver and it is validated through the selection process by our drivers.”

In addition, Pitzel gave a special thanks to CarriersEdge for their continued dedication to the program.

Jane Jazrawy, Chief Executive Officer of CarriersEdge, said Bison was recognized for its wide range of exceptional driver programs, high levels of satisfaction and annual turnover under 20%.

Nebraska-based Grand Island Express was named as the overall Best Fleet to Drive For in the small carrier category. This is the third time Grand Island Express has received the award.

“This year’s best fleets raised the bar more dramatically than ever seen before,” said Jazrawy. “With an average turnover rate with under 40%, they’re clearly seeing results from those efforts.”

Today’s ceremony was a follow-up to an event in January during which CarriersEdge named the Top 20.
