Bison Transport Supporting Wreaths Across Canada

WINNIPEG, MB –Bison Transport is helping make a special event possible this weekend, honoring the sacrifices of Canada’s veterans.

The trucking company arranged for the purchase and transportation of 260 wreaths for the annual Wreath Across Canada (WAC).

All will be placed at the beginning of every row of headstone in the Field of Honour at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, Canada’s single largest military cemetery, with over 11,000 fallen military personnel buried there

Bison partnered with the Royal Canadian Air Force 17 Wing and several other branches of the Canadian Armed Forces. The event, open to the public, will be attended by members of our Canadian Armed Forces, Cadets, the Knights of Columbus and veterans.

“In line with Bison’s commitment to help Wreaths Across Canada expand this initiative, we continue to work hard to gain the involvement of our industry, the business community at large and individual citizens,” said Rob Penner, president and chief operating officer of Bison Transport. “We purchased the wreaths and provided the logistics assistance necessary to deliver the wreaths to the site. We have also generated monetary support from Private Motor Truck Council of Canada, the Canadian Trucking Alliance, the Ontario Trucking Association and many other private organizations.”

Since 2011, WAC has been organizing and placing wreaths of remembrance on the headstones of thousands of veterans in Beechwood National Military Cemetery in Ottawa. The goal of WAC is to expand this practice so that every military cemetery in Canada is adorned with wreaths.
