In case you didn't already know, beginning this month, hand-held cell phone chatting is illegal while driving in Quebec (and Nova Scotia). It's technically been against the law to talk and drive since April Fool's Day but the grace period for enforcement is now over.

Since the first of this month, police have already handed out 1,000 tickets -- so they're serious. A first-time fine can be as high as $115.

Plus, you can get busted even if you're just holding your cell in your hands and not talking. On that note, as we reported a couple months ago, popular push-to-talk functions used often by truckers, may not be safe either. So talk and text at your own risk in La Belle Province .

What about all the other things drivers do every day on the roads. How much do you see when sipping coffee from your travel mug? How's your news paper or other office reading you need to catch up on before getting to the office? lets not for get the morning news on the TV sets in vehicles, with in dash monitors now they are just a flip of a switch away from drivers in cars. Oh and here is a good thought for the day law enforcement with laptops checking your plates while following you down the road, while sipping coffee!!

Not just what you're doing, but also what you're wearing. Like the Weird Al song, about his darling little rhinestone pumps, slipping off the mother loving clutch
