Build Your Pete

Peterbilt customers can build their own Model 579 – choosing from a range of specs, colors, and configurations – with a new, free app available for iPads through the Apple App Store

The Model 579 configurator app provides an educational, entertaining way to engage with “the most… aerodynamic truck in the history of Peterbilt,” the company says.

Among the many selections users can make are choosing a truck or a tractor, a day cab or a full line of sleepers, with different hood lengths, exterior colors and bright packages, powertrains, and other key components.

As well, they can use the full range of fairings and closeouts to build the aerodynamic and fuel-efficient Model 579 EPIQ.

Once the trucks are built, the app allows them to be saved or e-mailed.

The Model 579 configurator joins another app Peterbilt introduced last year for its SmartLINQ connected truck technology. That app is available for both Android and iOS devices and gives customers convenient access to the SmartLINQ remote diagnostics portal.

A similar version of the Model 579 configurator app is also available on Peterbilt’s own website.
