Canadian Freight Index Best Third Quarter in Three Years

Toronto – Transcore’s Canadian Freight Index saw load volumes hold strong September with a 12 percent increase year-over-year and down slightly from August.

September marked the sixth highest load volume this year, and the highest September volume in the last five years.

The quarter was up 9 percent from 2010’s Q3. The third quarter reflects the annual summer slow-down in freight movement, and saw an 18 percent decrease from Q2 2011.

Equipment postings were down 6 percent from this year’s record setting number.

Equipment-to-loads ratio dropped for the first time since June 2011, and capacity was 6 percent below recorded levels for September 2010.
