TORONTO — Sze Ming Alex Tang is going into her second year at Seneca College and plans to become a certified logistics professional in the next two years.

She’s currently taking Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation courses and also plans to earn certificates in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

“I hope I can work in a company where I can provide all-in-one services, like customs brokerage, dispatch coordination and supply chain management,” Tang told the Ontario Trucking Association Education Foundation (OTAEF).

Tang is one of two recipients of the 2014 TST Overland Express International Transportation & Customs Scholarship, which TST launched six years ago to financially support students focused on studies that have potential to benefit the trucking industry.

Rob O’Reilly, president of TST Overland Express commented: “There are not many opportunities for students who wish to pursue formal education in transportation and logistics, so we view this as a great opportunity to help deserving students who have chosen this important field of study.”

The second recipient of the scholarship, which is administered by the OTAEF, is Sharanpreet Randhawa.

Randhawa hopes to be employed as a logistics manager in a reputable company, and has ambitions to be a CEO in 10 to 15 years. He would also like to earn a post graduate degree in Philosophy.
