Celebrating Bob Magloughlen
Kitchener, ON -- While the family of Bob Magloughlen decided there would be no funeral following his death on March 6, there will indeed be a celebration of his life.
It will be held on Sunday April 13th from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at Deer Ridge Golf Club in Kitchener, ON (200 Deer Ridge Drive, N2P 2K5). Deer Ridge is located just north of Hwy. 401 off Hwy 8. A light lunch and refreshments will be served.
Magloughlen died of an apparent heart attack during a meeting at Challenger Motor Freight. He was 70 years old.
In latter years he was a consultant to Challenger, using his broad sales experience to dispose of trucks that had reached the end of their first life in the fleet, selling them both locally and to buyers as far afield as Libya and Russia.
A mechanic by training, he spent many years -- 1965 through 1982 -- at Cummins Diesel of Canada, first in a service role, working his way up through the ranks to become manager of national accounts. He then went to Western Star as vice president of sales and marketing from 1982 to 1984, followed by his ownership of Volvo Trucks Waterloo from 1988 to 1999.
Always an avid fisherman, Magloughlen discovered a passion for golf late in life and by all accounts played the game with considerable skill.
He is survived by wife Rosemary and two daughters, Robin and Karen.
