Class 8 Truck Prices Up for Second Month in a Row
COLUMBUS, IN — The average selling price for Class 8 trucks reached just over $44,400 in February 2014, rising for a second month in a row and setting a new high, but the trend is expected to cool, according to ACT Research.
“Despite the record selling prices, based on the assumption of satisfying some of the pent up demand, prices are expected to cool slightly in 2014,” said Steve Tam, vice president of the commercial vehicle sector.
Prices are expected to cool for the remainder of the year, ranging from flat to down five percent, Tam added.
ACT provides data on the average used price for the top-selling Class 8 model for each of the major truck OEMs including Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
