Confederation Bridge tolls rise for second year in a row

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I.- Come January, drivers will pay slightly more to cross the Confederation Bridge.

As of January 1, 2015, round-trip toll rates will be:

  • $45.50 for 2 axle vehicles, an increase of $0.25;
  • $7.50 for additional axles, no change from the current toll;
  • $18.25 for motorcycles, a $0.25 increase;
  • $4.25 for pedestrians, no change from the current toll;
  • $8.50 for cyclists, no change from the current toll.

Last year, tolls increased by 50 cents for two-axle vehicles and another extra 25 cents per each additional axle. In 2012, tolls went up by $1.

Strait Crossing Bridge Limited will operate the Confederation Bridge until 2032, when it will hand it over to the government of Canada.

As part of their agreement, the bridge operators can adjust tolls based on inflation every January 1.
