Crash Closes Northbound Burlington Bridge

BURLINGTON, ON –Here’s how the Thursday afternoon dump truck crash on the Burlington Skyway Bridge is going to affect traffic flow on the QEW between Niagara Falls and Toronto.

According to media reports, police said the best-case scenario would have the bridge re-opened Friday around suppertime but engineers will be inspecting the structure so the re-opening could be delayed, depending on their report.

The truck struck a part of the bridge that was already under repairs, and Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring tweeted the damage could keep the lanes shut for days.

Meanwhile, Toronto-bound traffic from south of the bridge can take Eastport Drive, which runs under the skyway or Redhill Valley Parkway to connect with Highway 403.

A 34-year old Brampton, ON truck driver has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of blowing over 0.08.
