Crews Fight Flames At Winnipeg Trucking Yard

WINNIPEG, MB — A semi-trailer loaded with groceries caught fire in a trucking yard in Winnipeg on Feb. 14 and sent a man to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Stonewall RCMP are investigating the cause of the fire, which may have started from a small stove in the cab, according to media reports. 

The unit caught fire in a TransX compound on Inkster Boulevard in the RM of Rosser, west of Route 90. Flames had fully engulfed the trailer by the time police arrived. The semi-trailer, loaded with groceries, was destined for Calgary and was completely destroyed.

The 42-year-old driver was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
