DeMerchant Named Maintenance Manager of the Year

CONCORD, Ont. — Lloyd DeMerchant has been named the Volvo Trucks Canada Fleet Maintenance Manager of the year. Penske Truck Leasing’s maintenance manager for eastern Canada, he was presented with the award by Volvo’s Steve de Sousa at the recent Canadian Fleet Maintenance Seminar.

DeMerchant has been with Penske for nearly 20 years, based in Mississauga, ON, and is responsible for 290 employees, including 110 licensed technicians and 107 apprentices, at 22 facilities from Toronto to Halifax. They look after some 8000 pieces of equipment.

A family man with an affection for both guitars and Mustangs, he was joined at the podium by his wife and sons. He followed with an emotional speech in which he said he loves his work.

The Volvo award winner is chosen by a panel of judges that includes senior members of the press and past winners of the honour.
