J. J. Keller's new DOT Handbook for new driversAiming to teach new drivers how to be safe, compliant, and professional, J. J. Keller developed its new DOT Handbook: A Compliance Guide for Truck Drivers. It provides drivers with a wide range of easy-to-understand information on DOT compliance and general orientation topics. While dealing with compliance in the U.S., much of it would seem to be useful to Canadians as well, not just those driving south of the border

The company calls it “ideal for driver finishing training,” new-hire orientation training, and as a reference for drivers new to the field. The handbook helps U.S.  carriers meet DOT’s entry-level driver training requirements.

Divided into four major sections (General Information, Trip Preparation, On The Road, and Incident/Accident Handling Procedures) with quizzes at the end of each, the handbook covers:

* Accident procedures

* Cargo securement

* Driver qualification

* Drug and alcohol policies and regulations

* Expectations of drivers

* Hours of Service

* Personal safety, security and wellness

* Roadside inspections

* Safe driving skills

* Trip planning

* Vehicle inspections, and more
