Drivers should expect nightly delays on T.O.’s 427
TORONTO — The northbound express lanes, ten bridges and retaining walls on Highway 427 will be repaired this summer.
This is the third of five projects worth about $127 million needed to maintain Highway 427 from the QEW to Highway 401.
The first project was completed in 2005; the second will be finished in 2008.
Construction will be done with extended nightly lane closures. Lanes will be kept closed for 10 hours per night instead of eight so that more work can be completed quicker.
This, says the province, will reduce the total number of nightly closures required.
Drivers may experience delays and should seek alternate routes. The eastbound ramp from the Queensway to Highway 427 will be closed during the 2009 construction season. Signs will be posted in advance to prepare drivers for closures and detours.
