Eaton acquires electric control systems provider

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Eaton Corp. has acquired the energy engineering and energy services company, EMC Engineers.

EMC retrofits and modernizes mechanical, electrical and control systems, as well as energy modeling and analysis, facility commissioning and energy savings performance contracting.

Eaton says EMC Engineers had 2009 sales of $24 million and employs about 155 people.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Energy management and service is an important part of Eaton’s growth portfolio," says Thomas S. Gross, vice chairman and chief operating officer of Eaton’s Electrical Sector. “EMC’s capabilities enhance our value added service business by expanding our early stage service offerings. This will ultimately better position Eaton to meet our customers’ growing energy management needs.”
